To celebrate the 2026 International Day of Women and Girls in Science, we asked our CEO, Jamie Blose, to share what inspired her to pursue a career in the life sciences and what advice she would offer girls and women considering this field. Starting out as a pharmacist, advancing to pharmaceutical development, and now leading Innovive as CEO, Jamie's 35-year career trajectory reflects the many opportunities available to women throughout the life sciences industry. This is also reflected within Innovive, where women hold key positions in engineering, sales, customer service, marketing, operations, and finance. Through conversations like this, we honor the contributions of women scientists, engineers, leaders, and professionals who drive innovation and advance the mission of improving human and animal health.
Q: What inspired you to join the field of scientific research and medicine?
A: Like most people, I always wanted a career that was interesting and fulfilling. I also wanted it to be practical, something I could use outside my job. I took several math and science courses, such as chemistry and physiology, and I eventually became a pharmacist. I had a desire to combine pharmacy or medicine with business. I started my career in drug development in the pharmaceutical industry, and that ended up being a perfect fit for me.
Q: What is one aspect you appreciate the most about this field?
A: I think the field of life sciences has a lot of opportunities. You can build skill sets in diverse areas, grow within a company, explore opportunities across the industry, and ascend to more challenging roles over time, whether at a biotech or pharmaceutical company, at an academic institution, or on the service and vendor side of the industry.
The opportunities, I think, are really incredible. In my 35 years in the industry, I’ve continued to learn, grow, and take on new roles throughout my entire career.
Q: What advice would you give to young women curious about a career in science?
A: For girls and women considering the life sciences industry, I truly can’t recommend it enough. If you work hard, continue to take on new opportunities, and keep learning, the sky really is the limit.
Question: What drew you to your current company, Innovive?
Answer: To me, Innovive represents what I value in an organization. Innovive is an industry leader, known for supporting early research efforts with innovative products that make a meaningful impact on the global scientific community. Being part of a company that plays such a critical role in advancing research is both motivating and rewarding.
I was drawn to Innovive not only because of its reputation as an industry leader, but because of its strong, collaborative team and its focus on execution. It’s a company that doesn’t stand still. It’s always looking for new ways to better serve the global market and continuously improve on what it delivers. That forward-thinking mindset resonated with my own professional philosophy.
